Loppy Doobenwop
Iziro's old friend from Hentune, on Korutan, Loppy alternated between encouraging Iziro to leave and hoping he would stay. Killed by mysterious assassins, he imparted to Iziro a strange torc and told him to find Selishan Traminko.
Neiu Miantu
Iziro's mother saw the Overthrow coming but was powerless to stop it. She watched silently as her son and others banished the Secret Kings to the farthest reaches of space and time. She remained, a harmless philosopher-matron, no concern of anyone.
Akio
The leader of the "ice assassins" that killed Loppy and attacked Iziro, Akio saw himself as the mastermind who held together his dim-witted band of thugs. Iziro killed him atop a tram heading for Kuga Tower.
Weru
One of Iziro's friend from the years leading up to the Overthrow, Weru was (and is) a shadowy member of the Hentune underworld. A fence, a racketeer, and a criminal "problem-solver," he agreed to protect Iziro's mother when the doctor fled off-world.
Millikeis Jospin-Calamaya
A cross-dressing former military engineer, Millikeis spent years traveling the space lanes, working odd jobs and generally blending in with the strangeness of the spacefaring world. He has recently settled on Veldin, looking for more permanent work, after nearly dying when Orensi hijacked the Silent Cat.
Chaltei Nith
An old friend of Iziro's, Chaltei fell in with other revolutionary groups after the Overthrow, eventually ending up as part of Orensi's crew when she tried to bring about her apotheosis by destroying the Silent Cat. Always a sensitive soul, Chaltei's mind broke when he saw Orensi's sorcery ripping apart time and space. He chose to end his own life by charging a squad of MSP Enforcers, rather than face the coming age.
Orensi
A revemancer, Orensi mastered the art of bending events to her will by stepping onto the paths walked by gods and living glyphs, but that was not enough for her. Convinced that the current kalpa was sick and soulless, she planned to usher in a new era where she would rule as a goddess by creating a new myth. Alukah killed her after Iziro's mufon glyphwork disrupted the ritual.
Wulker
Before Pongaster Som's attack on the Thinkery, Wulker was a biochemist and anatomancer with the psychic talent possessed by all Mendats. Though not the most gifted scholar, he made up for his limited experience by putting his nine separate bodies to use in manual labor while his diffuse mind concentrated on difficult glyphic problems. The attack reduced Wulker to a single body, and since Mendat sentience requires three separate bodies, Wulker is currently being held comfortably until compatible bodies can be found.
Doffy "Pompadour" Warbwu
Though many Moochava adapt to the species they interact with most, Pompadour possesses a commitment deeper than most, and works to recreate exactly the fashions of modern Flavin. In addition to his fashion sense, Pompadour is a gifted statistician and economist and serves as Dabbo's personal assistant when not calculating the value of new markets for the Thinkery's inventions.
Doctor Segasta
Segasta, as he is known in Glarb, is one of the few Chakturs to break the code of authoritative secrecy surrounding that ancient species and to work with the newer races as a peer. He joined the Thinkery to restore the prestige of the Chakturs in Moochava eyes, preferring that to fear, and also to study organic anatomy. His knowledge of light and force in healing has revolutionized trauma medicine.
Daxuno Eshar
Born in poverty in a Core World scavenger fleet, Daxuno struggled to afford an education in mathematics and escape a dreary life aboard a metal-eater. Always ambitious, he joined the Thinkery after Dabbo identified him as one of the best and most underappreciated minds at Chalweh College. Daxuno eagerly volunteered for the SSP Neural Enhancement to improve his performance. While there were no side-effects, Daxuno's enhanced psychic abilities left him vulnerable to Zrentili manipulation: he quickly destabilized, then helped unleash and spread the spore plague. Though Daxuno was captured, Selishan Traminko invoked the Right of Sanctuary and prevented his arrest. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Pongaster Som
Pongaster Som was a Zumzabite, a Moochava minority group tainted by their aid of the Zrentili centuries ago and by a long history of ethnic animosity. Som fought bravely for the Moochava Confederacy but was denied any recognition for his achievements. He spent the last decade of his life confined to an iron lung in Director Soibo's Thinkery after the Zrentili spore attack. Rage and madness, likely caused by the new Zrentili plague, devoured his mind, caused him to sympathize with the positions of Urf Mutsa and Selishan Traminko, and to betray the Thinkery to the Zrentili, nearly resulting in its destruction. Pongaster died shortly after the attack when his iron lung was damaged by the explosion.
Contessa Mirizine Dramthoiy Fnarshaw
The eighth ruler of Veldin and the third in the Fnarshaw dynasty, Contessa Mirizine boasts of descent from the Glorsh Adamant-Princes, though most suspect that the connection is tenuous at best, intended to offset rumors of inbreeding in her family's line. While it's likely not the result of inbreeding, Contessa Mirizine is extremely unstable and prone to emotional outbursts that harm her ability to administrate effectively. When she was younger, she was friends with Neiu Miantu, and tolerated Selishan Traminko. She has no great love for the man now, or his beliefs: her madness seems to be of an isolating sort, causing her, and by extension, all of Veldin, to attempt to block off the outside world.
