Veldin is a small desert world in Imperial space. Originally co-leased to Imperial and Moochava Confederacy developers, it lost its majority Moochava population, and its main spaceport city of Ghelmarael, in a Zrentili spore attack that resulted in the deaths of 14.62 million Moochava and 3.88 million other inhabitants. It is located at the edge of the Kabacta Rift within two caiu of the Esceldt Mjornes, the closest Zrentili realm to Confederacy space.
The remaining inhabitants of Veldin, under Contessa Mirizine, are mostly tenant farmers who grow cereal and sylviculture crops along the banks of Veldin's rivers. The Zrentili spore plague mutated many of the local animals, including the local wild dogs, which were renamed yinkoo. A systematic extermination project is underway to remove the creatures, which are willfully destructive of sentient life and non-mutated crops. The Galvanic Wall, developed by Dabbo Soibo and implemented by the MSP Engineering Corps, serves to hold out the worst of the mutants using a powerful electric charge that penetrates high into the sky and deep below the ground. An additional effect of this wall is the regulation of Veldin's unpredictable rainy seasons (in fact intense and unpredictable rains that cause flash flooding and which are notoriously hard to predict).
Dabbo Soibo's Thinkery is also located on Veldin. There, over fifty mystics, metaphysians, and philosophers labor to discover the secrets of immortality. Other features of note include Castle Veldin, redesigned within the past five years to match, room for room, the lost fortress of Imperatrix Bellerand Gistania, the archaeological school of Baxter College, and the Ghelmarael Ruins.
